Sew four coordinating round placemats from a premium cotton panel featuring the selected Vintage Pink Christmas prints. Two 17-inch fronts use Pattern 1 Santa and florals at different repeat phases, one uses the larger Pattern 8 candy-cane repeat, and one uses a smaller Pattern 10 pink-bow repeat.
Printed panel and finished size
- Printed panel: 43 x 36 inches, including a removable instruction strip.
- Front blanks: four 17 x 17-inch squares.
- Finished size: approximately 15 inches across the bound edge per placemat, before laundering.
- Yield: four round placemat fronts.
Quilt first, then trim and bind
Quilt each square sandwich before drawing and cutting a fresh 15-inch circle. Finish the raw edge with true 45-degree double-fold bias binding using a 1/4-inch seam. The printed panel includes sewing directions. This is a sewing panel, not finished placemats. The new printed artwork has not been physically print-and-sew tested. No tested heat-resistance claim is made.
Project materials
For all four placemats, supply 1 1/4 yards of backing cotton with at least 38 x 38 inches usable, at least 40 x 40 inches of low-loft batting, and 1 yard of binding cotton with at least 32 x 32 inches usable. Cut four 19-inch backing and batting squares and four 16-inch binding squares. Prepare four true-bias strips, each 2 1/4 inches wide and at least 60 inches long. Thread and sewing tools are also needed. These supplies are not included.
The illustrated sewing guide includes a true-bias cutting layout and a scale-checked quarter-circle template. Download the Vintage Pink Christmas round placemat sewing guide (PDF). Print the template at 100% / actual size and check both scale bars.
