A Christmas-red border dotted with holly runs around all four sides of this table runner. A cardinal perches among evergreen branches, pinecones and berries at each end, leaving the white center open for a holiday centerpiece.

One 24 × 51-inch printed fabric panel makes one runner.
Top and instructions
The panel includes an 18 × 50-inch runner top with the red border printed in place and a removable strip of sewing instructions. Cut off and save the instructions before trimming the top.
Finished size
The finished runner measures approximately 16 × 48 inches, depending on how much the fabric draws up during quilting.
Layer the one-piece top with backing and batting, quilt it, square the edges, then add binding.
Supplies to add for one runner
Backing fabric. Allow 1⅝ yards of quilting cotton with at least 42 inches of usable width. Cut one 22 × 54-inch piece.
Batting. One 22 × 54-inch piece of low-loft quilt batting.
Binding fabric. Allow ⅜ yard. Cut four strips, each 2½ inches wide and at least 40 inches long.
Notions. Matching thread, basting supplies and basic quilting tools.
