Sew four coordinating quilted placemats for your Christmas table. A bright red cardinal perches among evergreen branches, holly berries, and pinecones on each front. The birds face inward in alternating designs that coordinate with the Cardinal Christmas stocking and tree skirt panels.

Sewing instructions
Cut off and save the 4-inch instruction strip along the bottom.
Divide the remaining panel into four 20 × 16-inch fronts, then quilt, trim, and bind each placemat.
For all four placemats, supply 1¼ yards of nondirectional backing fabric, four 22 × 18-inch pieces of low-loft batting, ⅝ yard of binding fabric, and thread. Allow at least 36 inches of usable width and 44 inches of usable length for the backing.
