Sew a coordinating set of four quilted mug rugs featuring bright red cardinals, evergreen branches, holly, berries, and warm brown pinecones on a white background. The four Cardinal Christmas designs coordinate with the QFP stockings and tree skirt.
Each 43 x 12-inch panel contains four printed tops and a removable instruction strip along the bottom. Cut the 10 x 7-inch top blanks, layer and quilt them, then square each to 9 x 6 inches before adding separate quilt binding. The finished mug rugs have space for a mug and a small snack.

Keep the printed instruction strip for reference. It covers materials, cutting, layering, quilting, squaring, binding corners, joining the binding ends, and finishing.
Additional materials for all four mug rugs: 3/8 yard of backing cotton and 3/8 yard of binding cotton, each with at least 40 inches of usable width; four 11 x 8-inch pieces of low-loft batting, or a usable 32 x 11-inch batting piece; matching thread, basting supplies, and basic quilting tools. Cut four separate 2-1/4 x 40-inch binding strips. Directional backing or fussy cutting may require more fabric.
This is a tops-only fabric sewing panel. Cutting, quilting, and binding are required. Finished mug rugs, backing, batting, and binding fabric are not included. The green edge shown in finished-appearance images represents separate binding fabric. Finished measurements are approximate and may vary slightly with quilting and binding.
